This is the city of Jane Addams, of reformers and activists, and it has a rich immigrant history. The city's foundation is an immigrant city, and that sense of community rubs off on everybody. We still have that sense of organization.

I haven't seen the spirits of the 1970s and 1960s until now. This is really surprising. People are marching in the thousands everywhere. It indicates how deeply the immigrant and Mexican community in the United States feel about the attacks on immigrants.

Sometimes I think what we're really selling are memories. My customers want to buy what they were eating back in Mexico.

I had to do a history project with a friend who was in the choir and we decided to meet up in the music suite. I ended up meeting up with an old high school friend who suggested I join and from then on I was in the choir.

The principle must always rule that ideas are not born of other ideas, philosophies of other philosophies; they are a continually renewed expression of real historical development. The unity of history (what the idealists call unity of the spirit) is not a presupposition, but a continuously developing process.

We peruse one ideal, that of bringing people together in peace, irrespective of race, religion and political convictions, for the benefit of mankind.
