This is a ridiculous move by the City Council. The price of gasoline depends on supply and demand, not an edict from City Council. What we need is more gasoline from the refineries, not more hot air from the politicians.

In the big picture, the whole world at every level, micro, macro, physiological, psychological, material, economical, spiritual, all are a demand-supply problem.

The price of crude oil accounts for 55 percent of the price of a gallon of gasoline, driven by global supply and demand. The United States depends on foreign sources of oil for 62 percent of our nation's supply. By 2010, this is projected to jump to 75 percent.

I think it's a matter of supply and demand. We know that government price controls don't work, ... We tried that back in the 1970s and that created gas lines, the misery index and all of that mess.

You can do the math. Supply and demand.

If they think they can intimidate the City Council, they're sadly mistaken, ... We're going to do what we think is the right thing when it comes to this. We're going to do our jobs.
