This culture of waiting for the trials to make the team will not apply this time round.

We may however make a few exceptions, especially for those athletes who failed to turn up at national championships because they were either ill or out of the country.

We are trying to diversify by introducing combined events and we think the Commonwealth Games should be a good starting point.

We asked athletes' managers to forward names to us and they have done that. It is now up to coaches to decide who is fit for the event.

We hope to discuss the issue in the next executive committee meeting and once we have agreed we shall make the recommendation to the council before we reply to the request.
