They are lifetime sports and we're in it for the long term. Basketball players eventually retire and play golf. We're just a little ahead of them.

I did play-by-play for women's basketball at Davis and also had a sports talk show. I had been out of broadcasting for several years, but I wanted to get back into the business. This format affords people who want to do it as a hobby or gain experience.

If you like playing basketball, you play basketball. If you like playing golf, you play golf.

Obviously, this wouldn't work in power sports like football or basketball, or even with golf with 600-yard, par-5s, but it works in bowling where the pins aren't male or female and the bowlers throw 15 pounds.

Spring sports have a major disadvantage. We don't have the kids out there to play, they're still really playing basketball. Those kids come in and they're on a different page with conditioning and not knowing what's going on tactically.

I feel like it's my sports arena. I play basketball and baseball and competitive sports, but I feel like when I'm outside, it's my type of sports arena.
