There was no smoking gun. I really don't know anything that they could have done out of their normal routine that could have prevented this.

It reminds me of when my children were young. I have a morning routine now: feed Mom breakfast, get her bathed and dressed, then take her to day care so I can go to work.

Quitting smoking is a hard thing to do, and it's important to provide as much help and encouragement as we can to the person attempting to quit.

It couldn't have been that different than what Arapahoe Basin has been dealing with for 30 years or more. You deal with this stuff long enough, no matter how good of a job you do, something can always go wrong.

I've thought about it often. I haven't come close to an answer as to why the avalanche occurred that day, and not the day before.

I think the potential for avalanches is going to be much, much greater.
