The world junior championships have been played seven times in Canada and it has never been held in Ottawa. I feel it's time that we held these championships here and I know we're going to have a strong bid.

At $42.5-million, I cringed. We are at the absolute limit to keep the franchise economically feasible [at the $42.5-million cap].

This whole bid process has been a great experience for me personally. It's given me an even deeper appreciation of how much hockey means to such a broad cross-section of the Ottawa community. I felt it was very important for us to bring a strong delegation to Calgary. I'm confident we gave Hockey Canada and the site selection committee a lot to ponder on why the nation's capital would be the perfect backdrop for hosting the World Juniors.

This is the first year in a number of years that the fans can rely on the team being here.

There?s a group of people that got together and essentially attacked the company by putting out false reports. And we?re just fighting back for our shareholders.

When you've got these companies, these people out there trying to bring you down, we're lucky we survived.
