The way of the consumerist culture is to spend so much energy chasing happiness that it has none left to be happy.

The Master said, “If your conduct is determined solely by considerations of profit you will arouse great resentment.

It is in the nature of man to want what he does not have. This modern concern for happiness seems a real testimony of its absence.

The Master said, “A true gentleman is one who has set his heart upon the Way. A fellow who is ashamed merely of shabby clothing or modest meals is not even worth conversing with.”
(Analects 4.9)

When you aren't satisfied with what has already been done, make something better. That is the greatest responsibility and the true freedom of creativity. The freedom is in that it doesn't need to complain.
