The University was planning on arresting students, and, because of the vocal and sustained presence of our community of supporters, instead, the University will allow the students to remain in the locked building overnight.

The food was being rationed, and then after their arrest, the police threw out all that unopened food.

Students were aware that there was a risk of arrest for trespassing. That said, we certainly hoped that the university wouldn't respond to the students' actions by arresting them. We were in the midst of what we thought was good faith substantive dialogue.

These arrests have not slowed us down.

The 17 students sitting in Madison Hall are not sitting for arrest. We're demanding a living wage; we're not demanding to get arrested.
