The Union Budget has brought the cooking gas under the purview of Central Sales Tax. Now no State can recover VAT/sales tax more than 4% on the cooking gas. The Delhi Government has just complied with the Central directive. The statement by a Union Minister has created confusion whether the benefit would actually be passed onto the consumers.
