The stock is up because investors think it's a good move to get new blood in the company.

They tried to hold it together, and found ultimately they couldn't. It's curious they just woke up to this level of miss. They're blaming the economy, but competition is a much underrated factor.

I know they were looking for someone to be more of a GM [general manager], someone who would take the CFO position, move to the GM spot and eventually take over for Gerstner. Maine doesn't appear to be that type of person.

Competition is a much bigger factor than they're acknowledging in the press release.
