The special counsel has not advised Mr. Rove that he is a target of the investigation and affirmed that he has made no decision concerning charges.

Rove has cooperated completely with the special prosecutor, and he has been repeatedly assured he is not a target of the investigation,

Mr. Fitzgerald has affirmed to me that he has made no charging decisions, that he believes Karl continues to cooperate fully with the investigation, but beyond that, I don't want to comment at all about any communications with Mr. Fitzgerald's office.

Counsel has advised me to abstain. It's a private matter and I'm going to leave it at that.

The problem was that it was very difficult to deal with the special prosecutor's investigation of the CIA leak. While it was going on we decided not to put me on the air. After the Libby indictment they extended the prosecutor's term, so I never went back on the air.

The one thing that's absolutely clear is that Karl was not the source for the leak and there's no basis for any additional speculation.
