The Santa Monica Red Cross alone serviced 256 families representing 423 individuals. Seventy-nine families were housed in hotels and motels while many others found accommodations with friends and families.

Not everyone in Santa Monica is a well-heeled, juice-cleansing, Prius-driving yogini, but for better or worse, that is the city's dominant chord.

The Red Cross has assisted more than 55 families who have arrived here to the Portland area by their own means. As disaster survivors, they are eligible for Red Cross assistance. And we anticipate more coming.

I love Santa Monica and Venice because I like the beach. I have a lot of friends in that area.
