The same skills and drills have been taught to every boy who's ever tried to wrestle at Hartland for more than 30 years. The same hard work ethic, desire and passion is passed on to each class.

There's not a single person in our community that isn't aware of the success that they've had. They all think the world of Todd and all the kids who are in the program.

We have kids on our B team that would start for any other school and they rarely see the mat with the A team. It's perplexing from where I sit how one program can be so successful and others struggle to reach .500 from the same crop of athletes. I do know that it's there and in place and we're sure proud of it.

There is, in every event, whether lived or told, always a hole or a gap, often more than one. If we allow ourselves to get caught in it, we find it opening onto a void that, once we have slipped into it, we can never escape.

We couldn't get much going offensively, but we had one good inning where we ran the bases really well. Douglas played well enough to win, but they just couldn't get the big hit.

Anything can happen: anything. Or nothing. Who can say? The world, monstrous, is made that way, and in the end consumes us all. Who am I, administrated or no, to have the audacity to survive it?
