The question is, whoever moves in there, will they become part of the fabric of the community? ... That's my major concern.

We're losing a major neighbor and what they've given back to the community, ... These businesses move out and we get hedge funds that don't step up to the plate. It's not just tax dollars. It's a lot more.

Had we not joined forces and brought these events about, our community may not even be aware of the kinds of resources (that are available). We've given them a message that we are here and that we are working on violence and substance abuse in their community.
