When I went down to Carolina, probably the biggest shock was when I went to the movies, they had an entrance for colored and an entrance for white and they had water fountains for colored and water fountains for white. That was a little bit of a culture shock. . . . (King) did amazing things back then. Unless you were a white supremacist, everybody loved him. It was a difficult time losing him. . . . Fortunately, things kept getting better (because of King's influence).

I read and watch movies. I can't go to the movie theater much anymore, though, because I get recognized. It's worse sometimes if I wear a costume and try not to get recognized. I watch most of my films on airplanes.

Jim has a true, dedicated following. What's beautiful about his movies is that you go into a theater and you see something you're not going to see anywhere else.

Movies are not a tangible experience. You go to a theater and watch a movie. It plays to you. This was an opportunity to bring a piece of Hollywood and piece of the movie literally around the globe.
