The No Child Left Behind Act requires that school districts test a minimum of 95 percent of all students and they break it out by sub-group, including Hispanics, and we anticipate that it will be the Hispanic students who may be absent in the highest numbers on Monday.

School administrators are so concerned about discipline in school that they neglect the fundamental rights of students. Not only do students have a constitutional right to express themselves in the school so long as they're not disrupting the educational process, but schools ought to be encouraging students to express themselves.

We think there is a difference between a fully trained service dog who is accompanying a student who needs assistance and a puppy in training. We know that some dogs are successful in completing the training, and others are not.

There has to be a culture where students and parents know that if children come to school and act like that, they're going to be dealt with. I don't think we have that now.

We want our students to be able to focus on their futures when they graduate without being saddled with huge amounts of student loan debt.

The policy is intended to provide safety for our students, to act as a deterrent.
