The last two weeks I was thinking about it all the time. They said 'whatever happens, happens, and go out and do the best you can' and that was what we did. Friday night before the race, it was hard to sleep.

If I didn't blow two motors, he wouldn't have been close. It wasn't the motor guy's fault, it was mechanical stuff that broke.

I'm more worried if I can still win. I won a championship and I don't want to go down there and look bad. I feel like I'm under the gun and want to do good. I'm thinking about it more.

I didn't hear Jeff and didn't see his nose, so I just kept going. Actually, I think I did try a little bit too hard and could have got caught up in a wreck, but I didn't. Everything went our way. It was our night.

Most of it between me and him was luck.

This is the fourth time I've directed it in 15 years.
