The infinite is in the finite of every instant

May we exist like a lotus, / At home in the muddy water. / Thus we bow to life as it is.

The infinite is contained within the finite, just as the name implies: In finite.

Learning Zen is a phenomenon of gold and dung. Before you understand it, it's like gold; after you understand it, it's like dung.

Attempting to contain the infinite within finite symbolism of language may result in scholarship, but it will not produce devotion. (110)
