The growing focus on privacy at both state and federal levels has resulted in an increasingly rapid adoption of well-intended privacy laws that are at times overlapping, inconsistent and often incomplete,

I think it's fair to say that, even in the absence of legislation, we've had widespread adoption of privacy practices and policies. The private sector generally has an incentive to do things in a good way.

The adoption of the revised settlement allows us to move beyond the problems so we can focus on solutions. The settlement sets the foundation for cooperation so we can work together and begin to develop real, science-based, economical and environmentally sustainable solutions.
