The greatest win is walking away and choosing not to engage in drama and toxic energy at all.

Drowning his misery with alcohol and junk food was like sticking plaster on an infected cut. It masked it temporarily, but only made it fester under the surface till it came spilling out again.

Shed the tears.
Shed the blame and guilt too.
So that your heart mends and heals.

If you want one thing too much it’s likely to be a disappointment. The healthy way is to learn to like the everyday things, like soft beds and buttermilk—and feisty gentlemen.

Better to feel nothing, to be numb, than to lose control. It's the only way I know to deal with it.

Getting on with her life is important. But right now it may be more important to put the feelings out there, deal with them, and find a way to be okay with all that's happened.
