The governor naturally is very concerned about this. But he has total confidence that the commission will handle this and do the right thing.

There's a lot of work to be done on this. Whether it will be done by next week is uncertain.

He's saying it theoretically. He was just answering a question in the best way that he could and speaking from his heart.

He doesn't believe that occupying Iraq is a winning strategy for American troops. He wants the president and the Defense Department to level with the American people and show them a plan for leaving Iraq.

There's no latitude on the governor's part.
