The government should not be using the immigration laws as instruments of censorship.

The immigration laws should not be used as instruments of censorship. The State Department should not be deciding which ideas Americans hear and which they do not.

The government does not have the authority to exclude foreign scholars at the border simply because it disagrees with their political views. To invest the government with that authority would be to invest it with sweeping power to manipulate and censor debate inside the United States.

The concern is that the government is using the ideological exclusion provision and other immigration laws to manipulate and censor political and academic debate inside the United States.

The government doesn't have the authority to exclude people from the country, invited scholars, simply because it doesn't like what they have to say.

Barring people from the country because of their ideas skews and impoverishes political debate inside the United States. The government should not be using the immigration laws as instruments of censorship.
