The events of the past month help make clear that the United States must become more energy independent, but we must not let today's crisis drive us toward oil or gas development that threatens the North Carolina's coast.

Based on what we're hearing from the front lines of our fuel service stations, there currently is no significant gas supply disruption in our area. We're welcoming travelers to our shores for what is forecast to be a beautifully sunny weekend.

We continue to be carefully optimistic.

At this moment in time, with all the information I have, I am comfortable with saying that we will have gas on Sunday.

We get our fuel from fuel lines from Virginia and Northern areas and that supply is healthy.

We've seen a marked increase from New Jersey. . . . It is growing.
