The demand that school finances be transferred away from local school districts to the state and/or federal government has been a long-time favorite of the educationist lobbies.

All school districts receive funds from the federal government, through the Department of Education, to support anti-drug education efforts.

I think that the press has a duty and an obligation to report on local government, state government, federal government - to be aggressive, to do its job. And its job is to report on whatever it's covering.

In the last several years, the federal government has awarded some $11 billion in grants to federal, state and local authorities to improve emergency preparedness, response and recovery capabilities.

I don't bow down to the federal government.

They do it from the heart. They don't get any funding for it from the state or federal government.
