That's not a guarantee it will be done in three books.

I just wanted to write books I wanted to write, ... There's no writer who has not had enough ego to hope something he or she wrote would be seized on by the public -- that something they write will last beyond them. But hoping and expecting are two different things. Expecting would be beyond ego.

All good books are different but all bad books are exactly the same. I know this to be a fact because in my line of work I read a lot of bad books - books so bad they aren't even published, which is quite a feat, when you consider what is published.
And what they all have in common, these bad books, be they novels or memoirs, is this: they don't ring true. I'm not saying that a good book is true necessarily, just that it feels true for the time you're reading it.

become as much a part of their books as do the readers, and they escape into the worlds they have created. If their own personal life is in some sort of turmoil ... for example, if they are living with an abusive partner ... then that escape is more necessary.
