That's $6 million in interest cost savings for the university [for a 30-year loan]. It's a tremendous savings for us to be able to take advantage of this, which ultimately lowers our cost of operation.

You're absolutely going to see an uplift in interest in your university. We see it in recruitment efforts, in interest from prospective students, from donors. The amount of attention basketball brings, you can't put a dollar (amount) on it.

I think they have seen student need or interest for the major, and the university, via the 2010 initiative, continually expresses the desire to support interdisciplinary studies. Endorsing the GWS major clearly supports this venture on every level of the academy. Supporting the continuing development of a GWS program is strategically smart for any university that wants to stay on the cutting-edge with other institutions.

The market is not focused on imbalances, but rather interest rates and in the US right now they are high and getting higher across the yield curve.

The chancellor is an individual who has to act in the best interest of the university, taking into account the interest of a tremendously broad range of constituents. We're very interested in hearing what students have to say.

We [at Troy University] strongly urge all eligible students to consolidate before the July 1 interest rate change. This allows them to get the lowest possible monthly payment, a fixed interest rate, and the opportunity to save thousands of dollars in interest payments. Many of our students still repay within the 10 years but consolidation affords them the opportunity to lock in the lowest possible rate over the longest time.
