That cold spell last week seemed to get a lot of deer out and moving around. I was bow-hunting last weekend near Julian and saw 20 deer, including a couple bucks. It should be a good opener.

We are on the precipice of a population that could grow out of the bounds of which hunting can control it.

Know something? I'd lay even odds that between the people following us and the people hunting us, we've become this city's principle means of employment. Tal Verrar's entire economy is now based on fucking with us.

Was I the only one who became unsettled and swoonish at the sight of a large, inverted carcass hanging from a tree, its vital organs strewn about like children's toys, the occasional pack of hunting dogs fighting over a lung, another one looking for a quiet place to enjoy the severed head? It happened all the time and nobody else seemed bothered. People just walked up to the bloody carcasses and carried on entirely normal conversations, as though a man wasn't standing there squeezing deer feces out of a large intestine and small children weren't playing football with a liver.

Mississippi and Tennessee offer some of the best deer hunting opportunities in the nation and are noted for having high quality state wildlife conservation and management programs. We are confident we can lay the groundwork in these two states for a program that expands to several other states in future years.
