Syria wants to show it has time to think about such issues.

The U.S. and France don't want a regime change. They want the actions of the regime to change. A regime change could mean chaos and create more instability and more anti-U.S. and anti-Israeli feelings across the region.

The regime wants to reach some kind of agreement because they want to stay in power. The problem may be that Syria has nothing to bargain.

There is no chaos. There is no probability, zero, for a coup.

In the street this morning they followed me. This is new.

Now there is fear in the street. For me the fact that the demonstration wasn't well organized and didn't last for a long time is a sign. They weren't able to mobilize the one million they had advertised.
