Spontaneously, we decided to help her, which was outside the scope of what we normally do. We give scholarships or help people who had a fire, or need an operation. And we kind of stuck with her.

She was emotional and so were we. But she held her composure and told her story.

We had the fire chief the other day.

I wish I had better insight to realize the financial strain he was under. He really wanted to help his family, and that was the entire purpose of why he did what he did. ... But he learned that sometimes you end up hurting the people you love when you try to do too much.

It really has helped keep me calm since they're there. We're there to help each other. Where some guys are more trying to compete, we're competing too, but we're also trying to help each other and make sure that each one of us makes it.

I'm convinced both sides made a commitment to this, and we have made a commitment to help in this process, and I think it's important for everyone on all sides -- all citizens -- to commit to this.
