It started in '77 as just a rainy-day party, a bunch of friends, because we were bored and tired of the rain.

We've totally changed the way we hand out money. We went from an organization that promised to give, then hand out, to an agency that raises money first, then hands out.

I just couldn't pass it up with three kids, including one who will be a a senior next year and another who will be a freshman.

This is one of the toughest decisions I have ever had to make, and it was never taken lightly. I love this United Way and the team we have built. Working with the agencies has been a pleasure and I am in awe every day of their work.

Growing up, my dream was to play Division I basketball. I also knew that one day I would like to be a Division I head coach. The Citadel was the school that allowed me to do that. To be able to play basketball and be a head coach at the same school is a dream come true.
