senseless, inhuman and cowardly attack

[French President Jacques Chirac said the bombings left him] stunned and saddened, ... perpetrators of this cowardly attack.

That's what makes this ... so senseless.

The attack couldn't get going,

The gruesome attack can only be described as dastardly and cowardly. Its perpetrators deserve the severest condemnation of the entire global community.

They'd smash up the world if they thought it would make a pretty noise.
