Scientific whaling is only legal because the provisions in the international convention on the regulation of whaling are out of step with modern conservation approaches. New Zealand is working to remedy this.

All member states are bound by their relevant international legal obligations, in particular those deriving from the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, and the Convention against Torture. I encourage member states and candidate countries to take the necessary steps to look into this matter where appropriate.

I think it's genocide by any definition, but specifically genocide by the definition of the convention against genocide which over 100 countries are parties to, including the United States, Europe and Yugoslavia.

Until such time that (Scientific Games) has done something that precludes it from making a legal bid, we have to accept a legal bid.
