Parents need to reinforce at home what is being worked on at school.

My fear is the isolation of the school.

The offerings should supplement what the home-school parents are doing, but they shouldn't go beyond the public school setting. It's not an equitable situation.

When we sent the note home to the parents we indicated that this was something that had affected our school community, and that one of our students had leukemia and had been treated for it.

None of them are confirmed and, as a precaution, we asked the school district to send the letters to parents as an alert to the symptoms of mumps of their children.
