Overall, we had a smaller percentage taking the SAT but we had more taking the ACT, ... Some students take both and some take one or the other.

It doesn't mean we're not admitting students with a B average and an 1,100 SAT.

Our philosophy here with both SAT and AP is that we want to encourage all students to take the test.

I think it's getting more competitive for students now. The average SAT score has gone up every year. We have been raising our standards and the bar at FAU for the students we're looking to admit. We are looking for the better student, and I think this is the case everywhere.

We like to involve the students — really, if it wasn't for the students, we wouldn't be here.

We are disappointed in our students' performance on the 2005 SAT and are taking immediate action to determine how we can better prepare for next year. We are forming a task force from within our high schools to study what is working, what went wrong, and develop a plan for improvement.
