Our stand is that the national ID would diminish the freedom and privacy of law-abiding citizens. Just as an example, Social Security numbers were initially supposed to be used to administer the nation's retirement program and look at all the abuses there now.

Will every governmental agency have access? We feel creating a national ID system opens the door to government surveillance of your activities. The database may also be fraught with errors.

The law could simply have required redaction of personal information as a means to protect privacy. Instead they are using privacy as the excuse to keep the facts from public scrutiny, and to prevent innocent drivers from gaining access to evidence that the cameras make mistakes so they can defend themselves in court.

I started this company because I'm passionate about privacy. And I won't sit idly by while the freedom of the Internet is crushed and access to information is restricted under the thumb of repressive regimes.

When privacy is criminalized,
only criminals will have privacy.

For too long, law-enforcement agencies have hidden behind the privacy rights of [employees] and as a result, this kind of information is rarely presented to members of the community. In some ways, we see our role as standing in the shoes of the community.
