One of the main reasons we need to monitor the water quality in the caves is because many people of Perry County get their water directly from wells.

The water quality parameters that we are monitoring right now are dissolved oxygen, pH, temperature, specific conductivity, turbidity, ammonia and depth.

This equipment allows us to monitor the water quality every 20 minutes 24 hours a day up to 30 days in four different cave systems.

If people like their water and they drink water, then they should be concerned. Maintaining the water quality not only protects people, it also protects the environment.

We need people to recognize that each individual can impact water quality by making small changes in their everyday habits. This grant will increase exposure to our messages about proper used-oil handling and automotive fluid best-management practices.

LWS tells us that the water quality is good, but people are still suspect. I think they may be on the right track with the wells, but anyone looking to bring industry here has to only look on the Internet to know the problems.
