My mother had her own horse. Her father drove a horse and carriage and his horses were the best.

They can't fly in trainers to ride their horses. It's just a whole different concept.

Students do everything in taking care of these young horses. They are out here at 6 a.m., feeding, cleaning stalls, sweeping out the barns, and again at 5 p.m..

I remember her sitting at the dining room table with the bills. She had everything balanced to the penny. If she was two cents off, she kept trying to figure it out until she found it. She also kept buying all these insurance policies on myself and my sister. I still have one of them. We kept trying to explain to her that she should have insurance on herself.

We have so much that we've gotten from the college and again, if we can help to see them through some of the difficult times, we want to be there to do that.
