Gavin is a very smart, mature kid. I always tell him, 'You know your body more than I do.' He's well aware that there's a plan in place.

Who wouldn't want to? But I don't want to be the guy responsible for him not getting to that next level. He's got a future beyond high school and beyond the college level. He's one of those special kids. In a couple of years we could turn on the tube and see Gavin Brooks on the mound.

Public safety is our primary concern,

The initial stages of our investigation indicate there isn't a public-safety concern. At this point, we're just doing everything we can to be prudent.
