A lot of suburbs have great facilities, a lot of money that is put into (the private school athletic programs), ... Integration is a big thing that hurt us because we (at Carver) always had a lot of good athletes and after integration they were going somewhere else.

I think it boils down to the fact that Montgomery has become a private school town. The enrollment of the public schools is down drastically from where it was six or seven years ago. You have fewer players out. I think one of the strengths is we had a lot of players to draw from and we always had a lot of depth.

When I was coaching, the kids wanted to leave private schools for the public schools so they could get the best coaching, play the best competition. It's not that way anymore.

The Capital river is frozen, but we can unthaw it. Bring private capital together with private enterprise, and we can end this recession and get the river of capital flowing again.
