Kurds want to remain in Turkey but they want the country to be part of the EU. If they see that Turkey doesn't go down that road and they see increasing levels of freedoms in northern Iraq, that will be attractive for them.

I'm gloomy. Not that I am a pessimist but we leave problems unsolved and keep tripping over them for decades. The poison of nationalist ideology is spreading along with a confrontational mood. The danger of gangrene is disturbing me. I hope I'm wrong.

Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just.
