John's comments were unfortunate and inappropriate. However, with John's impeccable character I am sure with the benefit of hindsight that he would be very remorseful now.

It is unfortunate for Ashley's situation, and we are really hurting for Ashley like everyone else will be. Our club will offer as much support as we can to help Ashley through this very difficult time for him.

When that statement was made, it highlighted the significance of the situation. We will not divert from that statement.

He will still be a strong on-field leader for the club. He will be back out there on Sunday at 120 per cent. I think Ben will actually be very happy to go out and play football.

When you have got someone who is such a great player and very good on-field leader, it is always a very big decision to make. But in the circumstances, our board thought it was the appropriate thing to do.
