There is nothing in the rules saying you have to be present for the national anthem. However a coach wants to get a team ready, it's up to him. If Patrick felt he needed a few more minutes with the team, that's his prerogative.

He and his team were perfect gentlemen and so respectful. He is young and I'm sure he didn't do anything out of disrespect. I feel that wholeheartedly.

We don't have a choice. If we play them really good early, we've got a good shot. If we lose, we have nothing to be unhappy about, as long as the kids play hard.

He was the logical choice. We're loaded at his position. He wasn't going to play that much so this makes sense for both parties.
