It's just fabulous. This last quarter has been truly remarkable, it's been inspirational. It just shows that people put their money where their hearts and minds are.

I do want to take this public moment to thank my staff for the work they have put in on this property.

When the bubble burst it was clear some of that really extra money wasn't there anymore and so that required some extra effort on our part and a change in strategy. We received many more gifts than we anticipated.

It makes you realize how important it is to do this well.

We took it down. It was our machine, our node, and our network. Because it wasn't vetted with our security and network groups, it could have potentially caused harm to our users.

The Mac OS X 'challenge' was not an activity authorized by the UW-Madison. Once the test came to the attention of our CIO, she ended it...Our primary concern is for security and network access for UW services.
