It's important for this city on a lot of different levels psychologically. It's really important for the South Side, which has been making a comeback on all kinds of different levels.

The Cubs have got all these people in short shorts calling each other on their cell phone. The Sox have got all these people watching the game.

You tell me that people are afraid to come to the South Side and I'll tell you it's because people are black down there. It's not fair. It's safe. We can go drinking if you want and you won't get beat up.

First of all, this is a North Side town. You don't get a lot of respect on the South Side.
