It was just a boy's name. Even in the movie, (the name Madison is) a joke. She named herself after Madison Avenue. But that's where it comes from.

To go by a nickname is to almost proclaim yourself in certain male areas.

People have had nicknames as long as people have been walking.

I don't think that most of them are doing this just for publicity, but I think they're doing it because for them it's almost a sign that they are creative.

My interpretation can only be as inerrant as I am, and that's good to keep in mind.
