It's good for our down-the-line kids and our freshmen to get a chance to play, because as the fall wears on, they're not going to get much opportunity. Then we could get in a situation where at the end of the season, we might need them. The more live reps we can get them now, the better.

And he'll go play well, I hope.

I don't grade (the quarterbacks) in the press, but the best players play. Cole doing a good job is good for our football team. That's great. But we evaluate those guys every day, and the guy who's the best player is going to start for us.

We missed a couple of tackles, it looked like. It looked like we didn't get off a couple of blocks, and they got out on us. Our containment guy got a little out of position, and we let (Stewart) outside and we couldn't catch him.

The offensive line is an area in which we need to improve from what happened last year, and there were a lot of things that contributed to that. I like what I've seen so far this spring. This is the one position on our team where we are extremely young, but I believe talented. This is probably the one area that we've made the most progress since day one of spring practice.

This (Oregon program) is a little different beast than the Oregon and Oregon State teams of the early '90s.
