It's customary to make charitable contributions to the poor and to send gifts of food to one's friends.

It is easy to believe that life is long and one's gifts are vast -- easy at the beginning, that is. But the limits of life grow more evident; it becomes clear that great work can be done rarely, if at all.

I realize they said we took advantage of all these poor people, pressed all these gifts on them, ... It's terrible, ain't it? We'll wait to see how that works out.

And the worms make great gifts for your friends. Especially if they're fishermen.

We call 40 to 45,000 alumni and friends each year and donations increase each year. Average gifts range from $70 to $100 and some are between $1000 and $1500. Major contributors to the university sponsor buildings.
