It's always key to start strong. Last year, we went 0-3, so this is key for us. I feel that it's important to get the first one. We're just going to try to carry on from here.

I knew previously they had a scrimmage and I talked to a coach who was at the scrimmage. (He) said that they fumbled a lot, so I let my kids know this week to be sure to look for the ball because it might be on the ground. They saved us a few times by giving up fumbles.

We've still got quite a few sophomores that are in there for the first time playing their first varsity game. They thought after we scored two that the game was over. We reminded them when we went in at halftime that we've got another 24 minutes to play. Plus, some kids were getting tired and we had to sub people in, so that broke us down a little bit.
