It's a public safety issue. If you close down the track, what's gonna happen out there? Everybody has the fear of illegal street racing.

Now, after this tragedy, the department wakes up and issues safety ropes. But you know what? There are still companies that haven't gotten those ropes.

I fear for my safety.

These funds will allow firefighters to concentrate more on public safety and training rather than having to concern themselves with constant fundraising.

This is something that's been open for 40 years, 40-plus years. You have generations of racers out there that come out there every weekend. And to just up and close it, you can't do that.

There's a lot of speculation out there and a lot of rumors going around. We're just trying to clear the air and give everybody a fresh outlook as to what's happening out there.
