It's a nice community event.

Whenever I talk with community groups about how to blend the community with the diverse population we have here, the language barrier is always the No. 1 obstacle. It seems to be holding the community back; we want them to be able to embrace the diversity that's here.

The zoo is highly regarded, obviously by its visitors and supporters, but also within the North American zoo community. As one of only 210 accredited members of AZA, the zoo stands among the best.

The community here has been immensely supportive. We have had dozens of bone marrow drives in the area, and so many people have reached out. It is what gets us through.
